Letter from the President
I hope you will forgive me for such a short communication this month.
I write this as I am sitting at the 98th Optimist International Convention
in Quebec City. I have learned a lot in my time here and have been inspired
even more. We are part of a thriving organization of volunteers who make
an incredible impact on youth around the world. In the past year, clubs
were started in two new countries: Thailand and Morocco. Perhaps even
more exciting, we held the first ever World Oratorical Competition at
St Louis University. The winner, a 17 year old from the Eastern Missouri
district, walked away with new friends, new confidence, and $22,000 in
As you can see, there is so much to be proud of in our movement. Thank
you for all you do for our kids and our community!
