Letter from the President
Fellow Optimists,
I hope you will forgive me for such a short communication this month. I write this as I am sitting at the 98th Optimist International Convention in Quebec City. I have learned a lot in my time here and have been inspired even more. We are part of a thriving organization of volunteers who make an incredible impact on youth around the world. In the past year, clubs were started in two new countries: Thailand and Morocco. Perhaps even more exciting, we held the first ever World Oratorical Competition at St Louis University. The winner, a 17 year old from the Eastern Missouri district, walked away with new friends, new confidence, and $22,000 in college scholarships.
As you can see, there is so much to be proud of in our movement. Thank you for all you do for our kids and our community!
With Optimism,
